Police officers throughout Europe are checking whether drivers use mobile phones or other devices while driving. From today until Sunday, TISPOL Operation “Focus on the road” will take place with the main focus on distractions in traffic.
The use of mobile phones, technical devices like navigation systems, tablets or laptops while driving is prohibited in most of the European countries and associated with high fines and / or driving bans.
But distraction also occurs through disputes while driving, eating, smoking or children and animals that disturb the driver while driving – adds TISPOL.
The campaign is conducted in countries belonging to TISPOL, in: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, France, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Great Britain, Estonia and Italy.
