According to reports in Germany, construction is scheduled to start this autumn and it is hoped everything will be ready in spring 2024.

Besides the extra parking for HGVs, the expanded truckstop will feature a sanitary building with showers for both men and women.

Although the news of extra lorry parking space in the area is welcome, the 70 extra spaces will be nowhere near enough to make up for the region’s huge dearth of HGV parking capacity.

A survey conducted back in 2018 calculated that Saxony is short of as many as 1,500 lorry parking spaces.

On the plus side, another lorry park in Saxony with 68 lorry parking spaces was announced back in August 2022.
