The “Preload Smart Scan” solution uses Bluetooth technology. Thanks to alarms sent to the parcel scanning devices used by the company employees, errors on shipments can be prevented.

UPS is testing a new “Preload Smart Scan” solution which will allow employees to avoid mistakes when packing parcels for shipping.

As part of the research UPS places electronic alarms in vehicles used for courier services. The alarms warn employees against placing packages in the wrong car. The scanner detects any mistakes and informs the employee about them.

For now tests will be conducted only in the United States. This year the alarms will be installed in 301 US locations, i.e. in 47% of vehicles.

The aim of the operator is to make this a worldwide solution.
