The acquisition brings Tankcare’s experience in silo tanker servicing and repairs under the Van Hool brand, while the new subsidiary will offer a combined portfolio of products from both Van Hool and its South African partner GRW. These include food and chemical road tankers, waste tankers, cryogenic gas tankers, tank containers, aluminium silo tankers, fuel tankers, and container chassis.
To support the expansion, Van Hool has announced plans to open a new four-bay workshop facility in the UK. The site will include a spare parts department, vehicle preparation centre, and reception area, and is intended to enhance aftersales support and servicing capabilities across the region.
Tankcare’s current leadership team, including Andy Thompson and James Plater, will remain in place, continuing to deliver services such as tanker servicing, pressure testing, and refurbishments. Shaun Hurst has been appointed Managing Director of the new division, bringing over three decades of experience in the commercial vehicle sector.
Commenting on the development, Hurst stated:
“We’re fully committed to providing our customers with the best products and services available,” referring to the integration of Tankcare’s expertise with Van Hool’s broader offering.
Sales operations in the UK and Ireland will continue to be overseen by Fred Everiss, who will work alongside Hurst and CEO Gerhard Van Der Merwe to expand market coverage and product availability.
No financial details of the acquisition have been disclosed.
