Over six months, Michelin Connected Fleet consultants analysed vehicle data, contributing to an enhancement in driver behaviour by reducing instances of harsh driving events. This improvement led to an impressive fuel saving of 0.6 miles per gallon (mpg) per vehicle, explains the Newport-based Jaga Brothers.

The adoption of Michelin Connected Fleet’s Trailer Premium features, including tyre pressure and temperature alerts, resulted in a notable 66% reduction in rapid deflations and the associated costly tyre replacements.

Jaga Brothers’ Managing Director, James Hill, expressed satisfaction with the financial impact of Michelin Connected Fleet solutions on the business, surpassing initial expectations. Notably, improvements in driver behaviour, such as reduced harsh braking and accelerating, are anticipated to yield over £50,000 in savings within the first year of collaboration.

The family-run business, specialising in the transportation of construction materials, including steel, timber, and bricks, has also reaped the benefits of smart reporting tools. Previously experiencing around three rapid deflations per month, Jaga Brothers has seen a drastic reduction, with only one rapid deflation in eight months since implementing Michelin Connected Fleet solutions. This reduction has resulted in approximately £5,600 in savings on tyre replacement costs.

Having maintained an exclusive Michelin tyre policy for seven years, Jaga Brothers expanded its usage of Michelin Connected Fleet to all lorries and trailers following successful trials of the Truck Plus and Trailer Premium solutions.

Looking ahead, the company anticipates additional savings by embracing brake testing technology, with expectations of saving around £9,000 per year on brake maintenance.

Gilson Santiago, CEO of Michelin Connected Fleet, commended Jaga Brothers for benefiting from their suite of connected fleet management tools, reporting, and consultancy services. He reiterated the commitment to assisting customers in running safer and more sustainable fleets, underscoring the significant cost savings achievable through their solutions.
