Wincanton has opened a new 314,658-square-foot warehouse in Weston-Super-Mare to support the ongoing construction of Hinkley Point C, the UK’s first new nuclear power station in a generation. The facility, which became operational on 9 June 2025, is the sixth site the logistics provider has established for the project.

Wincanton’s warehouse is expected to create up to 70 new jobs and will play a role in handling the complex logistics involved in building one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects. Wincanton is the official warehouse and transport service partner for Hinkley Point C.

The Weston-Super-Mare site will manage a range of logistics tasks, including warehousing for both palletised goods and outsized loads, secure storage, and process management. A new warehouse management system has also been deployed at the site to support inventory control and regulatory compliance.

Once operational, Hinkley Point C is expected to generate low-carbon electricity for approximately six million homes, meeting around 7% of the UK’s electricity needs over an estimated 60-year lifespan.

“Wincanton has proved itself to be a supplier with expertise, experience and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the project,” said Brian Buckingham, Senior Logistics Operations Manager for Hinkley Point C at EDF.
