Texas’ Buc-ee’s chain of fuel stations and stores, known for its abundant snacks and clean restrooms, has the largest facility of its kind in the world. The chain already has more than 30 travel centres and plans to build more outside Texas.
The Buc-ee’s gas station chain had its origins in 1982 when its founders Don Wasek and Arch Aplin opened their first store. Their first travel centre was opened in 2001, in Luling. Since 2003, the partners have started to build large facilities over 40,000 square feet (approx. 3,600 sq.m.), which are common in the USA today.
The largest and most popular centre was established in 2012 in New Braunfels, Texas. On the area of approx. 6,200 sq.m. there are 120 fueling positions, 83 toilets and 31 cash registers.
