British carriers’ professional diploma will be converted to a Dutch certificate, report the business organisation for transport and logistics businesses TLN. The conversion is free of charge and automatic for the carriers concerned. This certificate will be also valid in the whole European Union.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands, the CBR (Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen – Central Bureau for Driving Certificates) and the NIWO (National and International Road Transport Union) have decided to provide carriers who hold a British professional diploma with a Dutch professional diploma that is valid in the EU.

According to TLN, as a result of Brexit, holders of a British professional diploma no longer meet the licensing requirement for professional competence in the EU as of 1 January 2021, therefore the companies to which they contribute their professional competence no longer meet all licensing conditions either.

To solve this problem, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management in consultation with CBR and NIWO has been decided to provide holders of a British professional diploma with a Dutch professional diploma before 1 July 2021.

This happens free of charge and automatically, the companies concerned do not have to do anything themselves. They will be informed about the change by letter.
