Bundestag scientists: 2G rules force unvaccinated truckers to rest in the cab

The Scientific Services of the German Bundestag has stated that the current 2G rules in force in many federal states in Germany force truckers who are unvaccinated to break road transport rules by spending all their rest periods in the cab.

The group of scientists, whose aim is to enable individual members of the Bundestag to obtain impartial information on certain topics, issued a statement regarding the matter of lorry drivers and the 2G rules.

“If in certain federal states the lack of covid recovery or vaccination status (2G) cannot be compensated for by a negative corona test for occupational reasons, it appears difficult for unvaccinated truck drivers there to find suitable accommodation for the weekly rest period and thus to comply with the ban on sleeping in the cabin, ” the scientists said.

As it stands, most federal states in Germany have 2G rules in force without any exemptions for lorry drivers. One major exception is the state of Bavaria, where truck drivers are exempt.

As we reported in late November of last year, drivers vaccinated with the Sputnik jab are also running into problems when working in Germany. Not only can this be an issue at rest stops, but also at different places of loading and unloading in Germany.
