In its initial phase, the charging network will comprise of 29 charging stations. By the end of next year, the plan is to have approximately 130 charging stations in the country managed by various companies, including Volvo Trucks.

Volvo Trucks also says it is introducing a new service designed to facilitate the discovery and accessibility of these charging stations. While initially launched in Sweden, this service will eventually expand to additional European markets and global regions.

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, commented on the development, stating, “Our customers will have access to public fast chargers throughout Sweden, simplifying the transition to electric transport.”

This service is open to all truck brands, offering comprehensive information on charging stations suitable for heavy-duty vehicles, regardless of the operator. Users can conveniently pay for charging services, with future plans to enable the booking of charging time.

“Customers can obtain reliable information on the locations of charging stations for heavy electric trucks and can expect transparent pricing. This represents a crucial step in making electric trucks more appealing to fleet owners,” emphasised Roger Alm, keen to promote the service’s benefits.

Volvo Trucks adds that it is actively collaborating with charge point operators worldwide to ensure a seamless and rapid expansion of the charging network and related services.

Joint venture to build 1,700 green energy charging points in Europe

As part of its commitment to building a comprehensive charging infrastructure, Volvo Trucks, in partnership with Daimler Truck and the Traton Group, has established a joint venture called Milence.

The venture aims to install and operate a minimum of 1,700 high-performance green energy charging points along motorways and logistics hubs across Europe. Notably, this infrastructure will offer charging services to all heavy-duty battery electric vehicles, regardless of their brand.

Charging stations integrated into digital services interface

Volvo Trucks’ charging service is integrated into Volvo Connect, the company’s digital services interface. Customers can locate and pay for charging through Volvo Connect and a mobile app, including access to a digital map displaying station availability.

At charging stations, customers can use a card or mobile app for identification and initiation of the charging process, with all charges consolidated into a single invoice.
