A new depot charging as a service model has been launched for UK electric truck fleets, combining charging infrastructure, fleet payments and electricity procurement under a single commercial arrangement.

Voltempo and Corpay have announced an exclusive partnership to combine depot charging infrastructure, fleet payment services and electricity procurement for electric commercial vehicles in the UK.

Under the arrangement, fleet operators would use existing EV charge cards, including Corpay’s Allstar Chargepass, to locate, book and pay for charging at depots within the Voltempo network under a single billing relationship.

Voltempo said the model is based on its Depot Charging as a Service approach, under which it installs and operates charging hardware at logistics sites without upfront capital expenditure by the operator.

The companies also said electricity would be procured through a third party using what they describe as a bunkering-style model aimed at improving cost predictability.

Depots in the network would also be able to offer spare charging capacity to other fleets, creating a potential additional revenue stream for site owners.

Voltempo is developing high-power charging hubs at UK logistics sites and leads the government-backed eFREIGHT 2030 consortium. Neither company disclosed financial terms of the deal.
