Last Thursday afternoon, German road police issued a manipulation order against a truck spotted overtaking other HGVs at 120km/h on the A1 near Münster.

According to 24vest.de, police officers in Münster were amazed to see the truck roaring through the left lane at 120 km/h. In the words of the German journalist who reported the story, the truck “probably had more than one tiger in its tank.”

The truck was escorted by officers to a rest area for a check, during which investigators found that the truck had been manipulated using a magnet.

Much like the case in Kent we reported on this morning, the magnet not only affected the lorry’s tachograph, but also deactivated its anti-lock braking system among other things.

The police issued a security deposit of 1,500 euros and ordered the vehicle to immediately be taken to a workshop in order for the manipulation to be undone and the safety systems reactivated. The truck will only be able to hit the road again once this has been completed.

According to the Münster Police Department, as many as 41 people have been charged in relation to the incident.
