Following approval by the Brabant Wallon Commercial Court, CMA CGM finalised the takeover through a binding offer and asset transfer agreement with Air Belgium’s liquidator. The acquisition ensures the continuation of the Air Belgium brand under CMA CGM’s air cargo division and safeguards 72 pilot roles among the preserved jobs.

The move forms part of CMA CGM’s efforts to expand its presence in European air freight and strengthen its multimodal logistics offering. The group stated that the acquisition would support the long-term continuation of air freight activities in Belgium.

In a brief statement, CMA CGM said the operation “ensures the preservation of the Air Belgium brand, employment, and the expertise of the Belgian teams while maintaining a robust air cargo network that addresses market demands.”

The cargo arm will now operate under CMA CGM’s management, with services continuing from Belgium under the Air Belgium brand.
