The Belgian Road and Traffic Agency (AWV) will carry out renovation work on the concrete lining of the Bevrijdingstunnel (A12) in Wilrijk (a district of Antwerp). The work will last a total of four nights (two nights in each direction) and will be carried out from 21:00 to 5:00 the following day.

On the nights from Monday to Tuesday (24–25 March) and from Tuesday to Wednesday (25–26 March), the tunnel will be closed towards Brussels. On the following two nights (26–27 and 27–28 March), work will be carried out on the carriageway towards Antwerp, which will then be closed.

During the works, traffic in both directions will be diverted via the Antwerp-South – Vogelzanglaan – Jan van Rijswijcklaan/Boomsesteenweg junction (N177). AWV does not rule out that the works might continue on Friday, 28 March. A detour via the Craeybeckx Tunnel is not possible due to ongoing works towards Brussels, reports AWV.
