Border controls at the Austrian crossings would have expired yesterday, however, the Austrian government decided to prolong them until the end of the month.

Austria introduced border controls due to the coronavirus pandemic in the first half of March, initially only at the border with Italy. However, they gradually extended them to all border crossings and prolonged them several times. Yesterday, border controls with Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Switzerland, Italy and Liechtenstein were to end. However, the Austrian government decided to extend them until 31 May.

However, borders with Slovenia and Hungary are to be controlled until 11 November.
