CEVA Logistics has launched a new trans-Pacific air cargo charter service, connecting Wuxi, China, to Chicago, USA, to meet rising demand on this key trade lane. The service operates three flights per week, each capable of transporting over 100 tonnes of cargo.

The inaugural charter flight from Wuxi Sunan Shuofang International Airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport departed earlier today, carrying a variety of cargo, including industrial equipment, electronics, oversized shipments, e-commerce goods, and apparel.

According to CEVA Logistics, the choice of Wuxi Airport offers strategic advantages due to its proximity to the Yangtze River Delta Economic Development Zone, which hosts significant manufacturing and e-commerce operations. Upon arrival in Chicago, cargo is processed through CEVA’s 700,000-square-foot facility, situated less than 10 miles from the airport, which includes extensive storage and customs facilities.

The Chicago gateway enables rapid onward distribution to major US cities via CEVA’s extensive domestic ground transport network, offering final deliveries within 24 to 48 hours. Additionally, CEVA has introduced sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) options through its CEVA FORPLANET sustainability programme to meet customer demand for environmentally friendly transport solutions.

“CEVA Logistics continues to invest in our global air freight network and our owned, controlled capacity. This new trans-Pac charter service underscores CEVA’s commitment to securing the right capacity on the right lanes for current and future customers in order to meet their evolving needs,” said Loic Gay, global air product leader at CEVA Logistics.

CEVA added that its freight management solutions in Southeast Asia would also enable customers from other major manufacturing hubs to benefit from the new air charter route via multi-modal transport options.
