As the Westfallen-Blatt newspaper reports, a joint-statement by the local police and public prosecutors office confirmed that the attacker had been arrested in connection with causing “dangerous bodily harm”.
The incident occurred at around 10pm on Christmas Eve in a lorry park within the industrial area located on In der Mark street.
It is said that the attacker, a 51-year-old lorry driver, inflicted “not insignificant injuries on the upper body” to another driver aged 42. The victim was in no danger of losing his life but did require overnight treatment in hospital.
The suspected attacker initially fled the scene, however the police found him shortly afterwards in his cab. He spent Christmas in custody and will face charges for causing dangerous bodily harm.
