Lorry driver’s life no longer in danger following latest rest area stabbing

The latest violent rest stop incident to occur in Europe has seen a 50-year-old truck driver stab one of his colleagues at a motorway service area near Munich. Fortunately, the life of the victim of the attack is no longer in danger. The driver who conducted the near-fatal attack was arrested and taken into custody.

According to br.de, the horrific incident occurred at an Autobahn rest area in Vaterstetten near Munich on Friday.

A 50-year-old Romanian truck driver is said to have stabbed his 54-year-old colleague with a knife. The motive is still unclear according to the German police report. The suspect was arrested and held in custody in connection with attempted murder.

According to a local police spokesperson cited by br.de, the stabbing occurred after a group of Romanian truck drivers working for the same company took a break at the Vaterstetten-Ost motorway rest area on the A99.

What exactly led to the stabbing is still unclear. Initial reports concerning the brutal attack state the victim and the suspect share the same employer. The police spokesperson said it is likely the two are acquainted with one another.

It appears that the victim of the attack is lucky to be alive. His colleagues alerted the emergency services at 9.30pm and when the paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the victim of the attack had been stabbed in the abdomen.

The stabbing was considered life-threatening, but fortunately the victim’s life is no longer in danger thanks to the work of the paramedics and hospital staff.

Witnesses of the attack identified the suspect and pointed him out to the police, he was then overpowered by officers before being arrested and taken into custody.

The investigation into the stabbing is underway.
