The 10,000-square-metre facility aims to be a one-stop shop for electric vehicle (EV) logistics, combining warehousing and freight management from DHL Global Forwarding with global distribution capabilities from DHL Express.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to sustainable logistics solutions for the EV industry,” says Mario Zini, CEO at DHL Global Forwarding Italy.
The EV CoE offers a variety of services including inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing with battery testing and charging, and aftermarket battery handling. The facility also boasts temperature and humidity-controlled storage for both general and hazardous materials.
Staffed by personnel with expertise in the EV sector, the centre can leverage the experience of the Formula E logistics team headquartered in Italy. Customers can also benefit from DHL’s global network, including IATA CEIV-certified teams for air freight needs.
This marks the sixth EV CoE established by DHL globally, highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting the electrification of the automotive industry.
“With the new centre in Italy, we now have a presence in every region, giving our customers a competitive edge in the growing e-mobility market,” says Fathi Tlatli, President Global Auto-Mobility Sector at DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation.
