As the peak summer travel season ends, the Operation Brock system, which has been in place since 11 July, will be removed overnight on 1 September, National Highways has announced.

To ensure the safe removal of the barriers, the M20 will be closed in both directions overnight on Sunday.

The London-bound carriageway will be closed from junction 9 to junction 8, while the coastbound section will be closed from junction 7 to junction 9.

The closures will begin at 9 pm on Sunday 1 September and the motorway is expected to be fully open by 6 am on Monday 2 September.

During the closure, clearly marked diversion routes will guide motorists via the A20, ensuring continued access to their destinations.

Once the barriers are removed, both carriageways of the M20 will return to normal operation, with three lanes available and the national speed limit reinstated.
