In a statement, the police said it had conducted a check on the individual concerned at the Hylkedal Rest Area in October 2021.

The driver was charged for having put his brother’s name on a chart sheet with drivers’ hours instead of his own on 4 occasions during September and October 2021.

The driver pleaded not guilty, but the court decided otherwise. The trucker had a track recorded of having falsified records previously, although a lot of time had passed since the previous offence.

The judge sentenced the lorry driver to 60 days of imprisonment. The driver has nonetheless appealed the decision and will take the matter to the country’s High Court.
