The complete closure of the Finnish-Russian border, introduced by the Finnish government four months ago, was supposed to last until Sunday 14 April. However, the country’s authorities have decided to extend the closure, this time indefinitely, according to an announcement by the Finnish Ministry of the Interior.
Finland closed all land border crossings along a 1340 km stretch of the Russian-Finnish border in December 2023 due to an influx of migrants from the east.
