According to the ruling published on 13 November, the company had failed to fully settle with former employee Murodol H. on the day his contract ended, withholding part of the per diems he was entitled to. The court awarded the driver €4,400 in unpaid per diems and a further €10,600 in penalties.
The driver, a citizen of a Central Asian country, worked for the company from March 2023 until the end of October 2024. After the employer failed to comply with orders issued by the State Labour Inspectorate, the former employee pursued the claim in court.
The Klaipėda City District Court had initially dismissed the case and ordered the driver to cover €2,400 in legal costs. However, the higher District Court overturned that decision, finding that the company had miscalculated the per diems and paid an amount below the maximum rates approved by the government.
The judgment took effect on the day it was announced and could have wider implications for the sector, sending a signal that employers must settle correctly with international drivers.
The company is one of Lithuania’s largest hauliers, employing almost 2,000 people. In 2024, it reported revenues of more than €316 million and a net profit of nearly €7.5 million.
