A lorry driver is facing court proceedings after police recorded a fully articulated 44-tonne HGV travelling at 85mph on the A55 near Broughton.

The vehicle was stopped during a speed enforcement operation on the A55 on Thursday afternoon.

Further checks uncovered additional alleged offences involving the driver’s tacograph records and the absence of a valid Driver CPC qualification.

The driver has been reported for summons.

Police warn of serious collision risk

North Wales enforcement officers said excessive speed creates a serious danger for all road users, particularly when it involves a vehicle of this size and weight.

Police said enforcement activity would continue across the region in an effort to improve road safety and reduce the risk of serious collisions.
