Under the agreement, the companies will integrate operations to improve connectivity, capacity, and transit times for shipments moving between the UK and Portugal. The collaboration will focus on overland trailer services offering multiple weekly departures in both directions, linking Torrestir’s logistics hubs in Lisbon and Porto with Davies Turner’s regional hubs in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, and Glasgow.
The services will cover full truckload (FTL), part load (LTL), and express deliveries, using curtainsider and box trailers depending on cargo requirements. Customs clearance will be available at both companies’ bonded warehouses, or at the border for northbound traffic via Davies Turner’s Smart Border system.
The new arrangement replaces Torrestir’s previous single-entry model in London with direct access to five UK hubs — a move expected to improve responsiveness and proximity to customers. It also opens the door to new joint operations in the ADR segment, enabling the carriage of dangerous and hazardous goods by road, an area Torrestir describes as a growing opportunity particularly on import routes.
Founded in 1870, Davies Turner is among the UK’s oldest and largest independent freight forwarders, providing multimodal logistics services worldwide. Torrestir, established in 1962, is one of Portugal’s leading logistics companies, offering road, air, and sea freight services across Europe.
The two companies already share operational ties through Salvat Logistics, Davies Turner’s long-term Spanish partner, effectively creating a coordinated service network across Portugal and Spain.
Davies Turner said the partnership reinforces its commitment to high-quality European logistics solutions, while Torrestir highlighted the collaboration as part of its strategy to expand its international reach and improve service efficiency.
