Further lorry bans in Austria: check when and where they apply

Following lorry restrictions on the A10 motorway in Austria in May and June, local authorities in the Salzburg region are introducing further bans in July and August.

As a reminder, in May and June, there was a restriction in place in St. Johann and Pongau (in the Salzburg region) banning exits from the Tauern motorway, the A10.

The authorities in Salzburg, Tennengau, Pongau, and Lungau published regulations at the end of June introducing further bans, which will be in force from 5 July to 8 September this year.

Details of the bans

Tennengau

It is forbidden to enter the adjacent roads at the following exits from the A10 motorway (Tauernautobahn), although destination traffic within Austria is exempt from the ban:

  • Puch-Urstein exit (exit 11) towards Villach at the Urstein Süd roundabout.
  • Hallein exit (exit 16) onto the L 107 Wiestal Landesstraße.
  • Golling-Abtenau exit (exit 28) onto the B 159 Salzachtal Straße.
  • Puch-Urstein exit (exit 11) towards Salzburg on the Urstein Nord roundabout.
  • Kuchl exit (exit 22) onto the B 159 Salzachtal Straße.

Pongau

The local authorities prohibit alternative routes at the following exits from the A10 motorway, although destination traffic within Austria is exempt from the ban:

  • Werden exit (exit 43) onto the B159 Salzachtal Straße.
  • Pfarrwerfen-Werfen exit (exit 44) onto the L229 Affenwenger Landesstraße.
  • Pongau exit (exit 46) onto the L276 Kreuzberg Landesstraße.
  • Lammertal-Hüttau exit (exit 56) onto the B166 G Schütt Straße.
  • Eben im Pongau exit (exit 60) onto the B99 Katschberg Straße.
  • Altenmarkt im Pongau exit (exit 63) onto the B320 Ennstal Straße.
  • Flachau exit (exit 66) onto the L230 Flachauer Landesstraße (roundabout).
  • Flachauwinkl exit (exit 74) onto the Flachauwinklstraße municipal road.

It is also forbidden to use the exits from the stations of the Landzeit network (Gasthof Nord and Gasthof Süd) onto the bordering municipal roads, although transport with unloading or loading in Austria is exempt from the ban.

Lungau

The regional authorities prohibit exiting from the A10 using the Zederhaus exit onto the L 212 Zederhauser Straße, with destination traffic in Austria exempt from the ban.

Salzburg

Municipality of Anif: Entry bans apply on:

  • B159 – Salzachtal Straße in the direction of Hallein.
  • Ahornstraße at the junction with B160 – Berchtesgadener Straße in the direction of Niederalm.
  • Neu-Anifer Straße at the crossroads with B160 – Berchtesgadener Straße in the direction of Niederalm.
  • Kirchenstraße at the junction with the B159 – Salzachtal Straße in the direction of Grödig.
  • Schloss-Lasseregg-Straße at the intersection with the B159 – Salzachtal Straße in the direction of Grödig.

Municipality of Elsbethen: The entry ban applies on:

  • L105 – Halleiner Landesstraße in the direction of Hallein.

Urban area of Grödig: Entry bans apply on:

  • Neue-Heimat-Straße, at the junction with B160 – Berchtesgadener Straße in the direction of the Grödig area.
  • Moosstraße after the junction with Jagerbauernweg in the direction of Fürstenbrunn/Grödig.
  • B160 – Berchtesgadener Straße in the direction of Hallein.
  • L104 – Grödiger Landesstraße in the direction of Niederalm.
  • L104 – Grödiger Landesstraße at the junction with B160 – Berchtesgadener Straße in the direction of Grödig.
  • L237 – Glanegger Landesstraße at the junction with Moosstraße in the direction of Fürstenbrunn.
  • B160 Berchtesgadener Straße immediately at the Hangendenstein border crossing in the direction of Salzburg.

Urban area of Großgmain: Entry ban in force on:

  • L114 Großgmainer Landesstraße in Großgmain directly at the border crossing towards Salzburg.

Municipality of Wals-Siezenheim: The entry ban is in force on:

  • Viehhauser Straße at the junction with the motorway towards the Viehhausen area.
  • Lagerhausstraße.
  • Edelweißstraße.
  • Schulstraße at the junction with Kasernenstraße in the direction of Walserfeld.
  • Grödigerweg at the junction with B1 – Wiener Straße in the direction of Viehhausen.
  • Josef-Hauthaler-Straße at the junction with Laschenskystraße in the direction of Moosstraße.
  • Wiener Straße in the direction of Salzburg.

These restrictions do not apply to vehicles that end their route in the Salzburg region.
