A haulier has been fined almost €4,000 and had one of its trucks clamped after being found guilty of illegal cabotage in Sweden earlier this week.

According to trailer.se, the above offence was one of two cases of illegal cabotage reported in the Stockholm area on the same day.

It is reported that the driver of the truck either “did not know” that only 3 domestic transports were permitted within 7 days, or “did not care about the cabotage rules.”

The lorry was held by officers so that it could not leave the country before the penalty fee of SEK 40,000 was paid.

As is allowed under current laws, the police held the vehicle for a total of 36 hours.
