With the help of state funding, the region is going to be able to provide safe HGV parks at three locations; Northern, Central and Southern Limburg.

Safe HGV parks are not only important to protect drivers and their cargo, but also to prevent lorries from spending the night along the roads or on the hard shoulder.

Because Limburg is on the logistically important route between Rotterdam and Germany, the Dutch government is aiming to establish 2,400 HGV park spaces over the next few years along this entire route with this grant, reports local news site Limburg1.

The region of Limburg is planning to set up service areas next to motorway fuel stations. These planned parking spaces must be operated commercially: the operator should provide the means of safety such as gates, fences, and CCTV but also the operator will be responsible for providing catering and sanitary facilities as well.
