Do you drive through Hungary? Be careful, because from 19 September, the improved TSM system will be operating there; it will weigh a moving vehicle via sensors placed in the road.
In 38 places in Hungary, special sensors have been installed in the roads. They measure the gross vehicle weight of a truck without the need to stop the vehicle. If the GVW is exceeded, the vehicle owner receives a fine via mail. The new Preselection Weight System is also synchronised with the EKAER system, i.e. an equivalent of the Polish SENT system (the obligation of the registration at EKAER applies to all goods of weight above 2.5 t).
According to information published by the Rusak Business Services Customs Agency, until the end of 2017, the Hungarian authorities will not be issuing fines for exceeding the weight, they will be only sending remainders. However, the Hungarian government expects that due to the implemented changes, the effectiveness of the checks will increase even by up to 50 percent. So far, this effectiveness has been only at the level of 2 percent.
