The Maasvlakte industrial zone of Rotterdam, which is also an eco-zone, will soon increase the restrictions on entry. Currently, some vehicles that meet lower emission standards can enter the area.

The Maasvlakte eco-zone was established as early as 2014. Since then, trucks (N2, N3) have to be registered.

If the truck is a Euro 6 vehicle, it can enter after the registration. For Euro 0-5 trucks, entry is also possible after registration, as long as they are not older than 7 years and were registered before 2013. Vehicles in classes 0-5, which do not meet the aforementioned conditions, can fill in a paid exemption application for a maximum of 12 days per year (payment is €26 per day).

From next year, however, only vehicles compliant with the Euro 6 standard will be allowed to enter the zone, says the trade association Evofenedex. A fine of EUR 2,250 is imposed for breaching the ban.
