InPost has revealed how it is bringing more of its lockers to less populous areas whilst also generating green energy.
The company is cooperating with the local authorities in some Polish towns and villages to install new bus shelters equipped with a neighbouring parcel locker.
The shelters themselves have solar panels on the roof, which are then used to power both the locker and the lights on the shelter.
“The first solar shelter with a parcel locker was built in a small village in Poland. On the roof of the bus shelter, there are four solar panels with a total area of 5.25 m². They can generate green energy with a maximum output of 720 W. The photovoltaic panels at this location generate 680 kWh per year, translating into a carbon footprint reduction of 183.24 kilograms of CO2. 79% of the energy is used to power the APM, and 21% is for user needs such as lighting, USB sockets and inductive chargers. The bus shelter almost fully powers the parcel locker. Two more bus shelters are going to be installed in two other locations,” stated InPost, on its LinkedIn page.
