€60 million investment to boost capacity at Port of Barcelona

The management board at the Port of Barcelona has approved €60 million of investment that will be used to increase capacity at the Hutchison Ports BEST terminal.

The port announced the news on Twitter earlier this week.
▶ Today we have approved in Board of Directors the next phase of development of the Hutchison Ports #BEST terminal.
The company will invest €60 million:
▶ €31 M for having 7 more blocks of containers👉from 27 to 34 ⬆️ Increasing its capacity by 26%.

Hutchison Ports shall allocate €31 million of its investment into increasing its container block capacity from 27 to 34. This amounts to a 26% increase in capacity to 700,000 TEU.
The remaining €29 million of the investment will go towards machinery, including 14 new automated cranes.
The work on the capacity expansion will begin in May of next year.
