Iveco Group and financing company DLL have finalised a joint venture to grow GATE, a platform offering rental solutions for low- and zero-emission commercial vehicles.
Under the deal, DLL takes a 51% stake in GATE, with Iveco retaining 49%. GATE, launched in Italy in 2023 and later expanded to France and Germany, provides operators with flexible rental packages, digital fleet services and maintenance through partner networks.
The new structure is intended to accelerate GATE’s growth, with plans to roll out in more European countries where Iveco and DLL are active. The partners also aim to open the rental model to other truck brands beyond Iveco in the future.
The transaction also comes as Iveco undergoes wider restructuring: in July, the company confirmed its €3.8 billion sale to Tata Motors, due to complete in the first half of 2026. Iveco’s latest quarterly results showed weaker truck sales and profitability, with Q2 2025 truck revenues down 8.9% year-on-year and adjusted EBIT in the segment dropping from €190 million to €129 million.
Hylane follows a similar path
German provider hylane GmbH is also offering rental schemes for zero-emission trucks, but under a pay-per-use model where customers pay only for kilometres driven. Maintenance, insurance and servicing are included, while fuel and drivers remain the operator’s responsibility.
Hylane, which already runs Europe’s largest hydrogen truck fleet, recently expanded from Germany into the Netherlands with support from the government’s SWiM subsidy programme, helping to lower rental rates. Its fleet includes hydrogen and battery-electric trucks from manufacturers such as MAN, Hyundai and Daimler.
