Residents of the Kent village of Mersham have contacted their local MP to complain about the disruption caused by truckers who have mistakenly gone through the area on their way to the new Sevington lorry park.

According to Kent Online, some villagers say the disruption caused by the truck traffic is a „total nightmare”.

It is said that some truckers are turning off the A2070 link road earlier than they should, resulting in them having to drive through Mersham to reach the lorry park, which is located near Ashford retail park and the M20.

Residents are now asking for clearer signage to be installed to stop truckers taking the alternative route through the village to the lorry park. One complained that the trucks made her „house shake”.

The Sevington lorry park is currently being used as coronavirus testing facility, but is set to accomodate more trucks as freight volumes increase later this month.
