Deutsche Post DHL has announced a partnership with housing provider Vonovia that will see DHL Packstations (parcel lockers) come to Vonovia’s housing estates across Germany.

The first set of parcel lockers have already been installed, most of which are in the Berlin area. Other lockers will follow in other regions across Germany in the coming months.

Commenting on the deal, Alexander Weihe, who heads Vonovia’s Innovation & Business department, said:

“We are pleased about the cooperation with Deutsche Post DHL. It enables us to offer a nationwide digitally controlled service that benefits our tenants. With this innovation, we are making a further contribution to customer satisfaction. Because a packing station on your own doorstep saves you money whilst also reducing the burden on the environment.”

Ole Nordhoff, who is responsible for product management at Deutsche Post DHL’s Post & Parcel Germany division, added:

“We currently offer our customers more than 11,500 Packstations nationwide. The cooperation with Vonovia enables us to offer this special service to even more people. We were the first company to introduce the Packstation service to the German market in 2003, and have consistently developed it further since then. Today we can also offer Packstations that are powered by solar energy and are therefore especially environmentally friendly.”
