Truck drivers will be invited to speak at the European Parliament’s Petitions Committee next month about the problems they have encountered in parking areas and on Europe’s roads.

Romanian MEP Vlad Gheorghe posted about the news on his Facebook Page, saying that it showed the petition for better lorry driver security had been victorious.

As the MEP explains, Romanian lorry drivers will speak at the European Parliament’s Petitions Committee about the problems they face in light of the horrific killing of Mihai Spătaru in a French lorry park last month.

Gheorghe stressed it was only right that the voice of lorry drivers be included on the agenda:

I insisted to the Petitions Commission that this subject be put on the agenda as it deserves it. I am glad that the Romanian drivers will be able to directly support their cause in the European Parliament.

The politician also gave his thanks to Adriana Muresan for his work in drumming up public support for the petition, as well as the Voluntari in Europa Association and everyone else who signed the petition and promoted the message.
