A report in the Irish Times states that those running the project will conduct a survey to determine precisely where the best place for the new facility would be, and what amenities and shops it should have.
According to the report, the Gorey Services currently off the M11 is seen as a model for the plans, which also include HGV parking for lorries moving to and from Rosslare Port.
Sean Dobbs, who is managing the project, believes the extra space will alleviate problems with truck parking capacity at Rosslare Harbour and Kilrane. Dobbs added that the plans will need to consider both national policy on service areas, as well as EU regulations for drivers, before a specific location is selected.
