In addition to the regular truck bans on Saturdays and Sundays (and additional bans on Fridays in Austria), there will be holiday-related traffic restrictions in Hungary and Liechtenstein this month.
The Easter holidays also fall at the end of March. Below is the timetable for the Easter HGV bans in Europe.
14th March
Hungary – from 22.00 to midnight. Restrictions apply to lorries over 7.5 tonnes.
15 March
Hungary (anniversary of the outbreak of the Hungarian Revolution) – from 0:00 to 22:00.
19 March
Liechtenstein (St Joseph’s Day) – from 0:00 to 24:00. Restrictions apply to lorries over 3.5t and articulated vehicles over 5t.
28 March (Maundy Thursday)
Hungary – from 22:00 to 24:00.
29 March (Good Friday)
Croatia – from 15.00 to 23.00. The ban applies to heavy goods vehicles and convoys with a total weight of more than 7.5 tonnes and trucks and vehicles with trailers over 14 metres in length.
Czech Republic – from 13.00 to 22.00. The ban applies to trucks and convoys with a gross vehicle weight of more than 7.5 tonnes.
Luxembourg – from 0:00 to 21:45 in the direction of Germany. Restrictions apply to vehicles over 7.5t with or without trailers.
Germany – from 0:00 to 22:00. Heavy goods vehicles over 7.5t and lorries with trailers are not allowed on German roads.
Hungary – from 0:00 to 22:00.
Italy – from 14:00 to 22:00. Italy has restrictions for lorries over 7.5t.
Slovakia – from 0:00 to 22:00 No trucks over 7.5t and lorries over 3.5t with trailers or semi-trailers are allowed on Slovakian roads.
Slovenia – from 14:00 to 22:00 Restrictions apply to heavy goods vehicles and vehicle combinations with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 7.5t.
Switzerland – from 0:00 to 24:00. The Swiss ban applies to trucks with a dmc over 3.5t.
30 March (Easter Saturday)
Croatia – from 15.00 to 23.00.
France – from 22.00 to midnight. French restrictions apply to lorries and articulated vehicles over 7.5 tonnes.
Hungary – from 22:00 to 24:00.
Italy – from 9:00 to 16:00.
Luxembourg – from 21:30 to 24:00 towards France and from 23:30 to 24:00 towards Germany.
Poland – from 18:00 to 22:00. Restrictions apply to vehicles over 12 tonnes.
31 March (Easter)
Croatia – 14.00 to 23.00

Austria – from 0.00 to 22.00. In Austria, the restriction applies to tractors and trailers with a maximum mass of over 3.5 tonnes, lorries, articulated vehicles and self-propelled industrial machinery with a maximum mass of over 7.5 tonnes.

Czech Republic – from 13:00 to 22:00.
France – from 0:00 to 22:00.
Hungary – 0:00 to 22:00.
Italy – 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
