From 1 April 2018 passage through the tunnel will be more expensive. The toll increase applies to trucks that meet the EURO 3 emission standard.

SITMB, an Italian company managing the Mont-Blanc tunnel, announces a toll increase from April 1 for EURO 3 heavy-duty vehicles. Prices for these trucks will rise by 5%, and the manager decided to increase the transit traffic of new generation vehicles that emit less exhaust. It’s about improving the air quality in the Aosta Valley and in the French Arve Valley, according to the Italian press.

Total traffic ban for EURO 3 trucks

Increasing the toll for the tunnel is the first step towards a total ban on trucks meeting the EURO 3 standard – Italian media reports. In the future, a similar solution will be introduced in the Fréjus tunnel.

You can check the current rates for the Mont-Blanc tunnel on the website of the French motorway administrator ATMB.
