Night blindness is a condition which causes a person to have vision problems after dark. In addition, it impairs vision in a poorly lit rooms and results in the lack of visual acuity. According to ophthalmologists, two main sources of the disorder can be indicated. First, it may be a congenital disease. The second reason is a deficiency of vitamins A and E.
The first disturbing symptom is the image getting foggy. Eyesight cannot adapt to the intensity of the light. A visual acuity impairment can be observed when moving from a bright place to a darkened room.

Night blindness is mainly caused by a deficiency of vitamins A and E. Therefore, prevention is very important. It is primarily based on a diet rich in ingredients containing these vitamins (eggs, fish, dairy products, and vegetables: tomatoes, peppers, spinach). It is also recommended to supplement the vitamins with pills. The patient should as well ensure that their eyes are continuously moisturized, as it may alleviate the symptoms of the disease.
Unfortunately, the condition is progressive and irreversible. It may also lead to a complete loss of vision. If you have noticed any disturbing symptoms, we urge you to make sure to see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible!
