October’s IRU Conference, one of the highest profile political road transport events in Europe, will discuss how new laws could help the logistics sector properly utilise the data it collects.

The online event will take place on Tuesday October 20th, and you can register your participation here.

The focus of the IRU Conference this year is exclusively on data. The list of topics to be covered is as follows:

  • access to self-generated data and other rights for road transport operators
  • conditions for the use and re-use of data
  • how new EU laws could help the industry and its users reap the benefits of transport’s digital transformation

Things kick off at 2pm with an introduction and some opening remarks, followed by panel discussions on the cost of data and B2B regulation. Both panel discussions will also include question and answer sessions.

Adina Vălean, the European Commissioner for Transport, will be the event’s Keynote Speaker, while Daniel Mes, Cabinet Member of EU Commissioner Timmermans, is also on the bill. The third speaker currently listed on the lineup is MEP Alex Agius Saliba, who has served on the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO), the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL.) and as an S&D Co-ordinator in the Committee on Petitions (PETI).

Another three speakers are yet to be announced; they will be representatives from leading companies in the sectors of passenger transport, freight transport and technology.
