An overtaking ban for lorries during the day  – from 6 am to 6 pm – has already been in place since January 15th on the busiest Slovenian motorway, the A1. Lorries have only been allowed to overtake at night or on sections with three lanes.

The general overtaking ban for lorries comes as a reaction to the A1 ban:  the measure on the busy motorway proved to be successful; it has lessened traffic congestion and enhanced road safety. Therefore, from 1 November, the ban applies to all motorways in Slovenia – from 6 am to 6 pm.

Violations are monitored by the police; the fine is EUR 300.
