The revised tariffs were announced in mid-December 2025 by the operator of Poland’s e-TOLL system and confirmed by the Ministry of Infrastructure. The January increase applies to tolled sections of motorways and expressways, as well as selected national roads.
Which roads are affected
In Poland, toll rates vary by road type. Motorways and expressways (A and S roads) carry higher charges, while main national roads (GP and G roads) are subject to lower rates. Both categories are widely used by international traffic, particularly on north–south and east–west transit corridors.
The current rates apply to all toll roads already covered by the e-TOLL system.
Legal basis and emission classes
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the rate adjustment results from the annual indexation mechanism set out in Polish law, which aligns toll levels with changes in the prices of goods and services. The update is also linked to EU regulations governing road infrastructure charging and vehicle emission standards, including Euro 5, Euro 6 and Euro VI categories.
As a result, the January increase was not a discretionary decision but part of a systematic toll-updating process.

February increase and network expansion ahead
The January adjustment does not conclude the toll changes planned for 2026. A second, more substantial increase is scheduled for 1 February 2026, alongside a significant expansion of Poland’s toll network.
According to a draft regulation published by the Government Legislation Centre, toll rates for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes and for buses are set to rise by 40–42 per cent, depending on vehicle weight and emission class.
At the same time, the tolled road network is expected to expand by approximately 645 kilometres, bringing additional motorway sections, expressways and selected national routes under the e-TOLL system.
Impact on international transport
For international road carriers, the combined effect of higher per-kilometre rates and a wider tolled network means a further increase in transit and operating costs in Poland. The changes affect not only domestic operations but also long-distance routes linking Western Europe with the Baltics, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.
The revised toll structure comes at a time when transport companies across Europe continue to face pressure from fuel prices, labour shortages and tight margins, making cost planning for 2026 increasingly challenging.
