Back from insolvency: Quantron targets 100 zero-emission vehicles in Europe

Quantron has announced plans to put 100 battery-electric and hydrogen commercial vehicles into operation with European customers before the end of 2026, as the German brand launches a new joint venture in China following its return from insolvency.

The company has agreed to establish Quantron China with Chinese technology firm HyperView. The venture, based in Shaoxing, is intended to develop a new generation of battery-electric and hydrogen-powered trucks and buses, while electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn is set to act as industrial manufacturing partner.

The immediate test of those ambitions will come much sooner than the planned new vehicle generation. Quantron says the first 100 vehicles will enter real customer operations in Europe by the end of this year.

100 vehicles promised before year-end

According to Quantron, the vehicles will form a validation fleet for its forthcoming Gen2 platform, gathering data on energy consumption, uptime, performance and customer experience under real operating conditions. However, with only a few months remaining in 2026, several details have yet to be disclosed.

Quantron has not named the European customers due to receive the vehicles, specified which models will be supplied or said how the 100 units will be divided between battery-electric and hydrogen vehicles. Production locations and detailed delivery schedules have also not been announced.

“The first 100 vehicles demonstrate that this is not a distant vision,” said Andreas Haller, founder of Quantron and CEO of Haller Group. He said they would enter customer operations this year, with the resulting experience feeding into development of the next vehicle generation.

Foxconn lined up for manufacturing

Quantron says Foxconn will provide industrial manufacturing capabilities for the planned truck and bus platforms, supporting scalable production and an international supply chain. The distinction is important, however: Quantron and HyperView are the partners forming Quantron China, while Foxconn is described as an industrial manufacturing partner rather than a shareholder in the joint venture.

The longer-term project centres on the new Gen2 platform for battery-electric and fuel-cell trucks and buses. Quantron says it will feature a new cab, improved aerodynamics, connected fleet functions and the technical foundation for future autonomous-driving functions.

The first Gen2 vehicle is expected to be unveiled during the first half of 2027. HyperView is contributing expertise in intelligent vehicle systems and autonomous-driving technology.

A comeback after insolvency

The expansion comes less than two years after the former Quantron AG ran into serious financial difficulties. Provisional insolvency proceedings were ordered by the Augsburg court on 29 October 2024, followed by the opening of formal insolvency proceedings on 1 January 2025.

On 1 April 2025, Andreas Haller Holding acquired the relevant assets of Quantron AG together with its remaining core workforce of 35 employees through an asset deal. The former Quantron AG legal entity was not preserved, but the Quantron brand subsequently continued within Haller Group.

Quantron was formally reintegrated into Haller Group’s zero-emission commercial vehicle activities earlier this year. Its latest plan therefore represents one of the clearest tests yet of the revived brand’s ability to turn ambitious international projects into vehicles operating with customers. The first benchmark is already close: 100 vehicles in European fleets before the end of December.
