Raben Group opens logistics centre, partners with Sika

The Raben Group is expanding its network in Germany and is constructing a new logistics centre in the Steinbach district of Baden-Baden on an area of over 30,000 square metres, which will begin operations shortly. The group has also announced a partnership with Sika Automotive from Hamburg.

The new freight forwarding facility, designed for sustainability and efficiency, is being built on a 30,534-square-metre site. According to the company, the facility is scheduled to commence operations in May 2025.

The new Raben Group logistics centre will include 5,500 square metres of storage space and 51 loading gates. A photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof, and the facility will be equipped with electric charging stations for trucks, parking spaces for trucks, and social rooms for external truck drivers.

Raben Group is a Dutch logistics service provider offering comprehensive TFL services, including Contract Logistics, Road Network (National, International, and Eastern), Fresh Logistics, FTL & Intermodal Transport, and Sea and Air Freight.

The group operates 160 own branches in 15 European countries (Bulgaria, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Hungary) and manages approximately 1,800,000 square metres of warehouse capacity. In 2023, the logistics company recorded a turnover of nearly 2 billion euros.

Partnership with Sika Automotive

On 6 February, the logistics service provider announced its strategic cooperation with Sika Automotive Deutschland GmbH from Hamburg. Sika is a speciality chemicals company and a global leader in the development and production of systems and products for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing, and protecting in the construction and automotive industries. The Raben Group is now responsible for handling its transport.

The Sika Automotive plant in Hamburg serves as a European hub for the distribution of innovative speciality chemicals. Over 10,000 transports are organised there each year, supplying more than 700 locations in over 50 countries. With a pallet capacity of over 3,500, 400 active sales items, and production focused on four technologies, Hamburg is a key location for the global automotive industry.

Sustainability as a common goal:

  • Use of trucks with alternative fuels such as HVO
  • Energy-efficient refrigerated trailers to reduce emissions
  • Optimised processes that conserve resources
