The SI Brexit system will be temporarily unavailable on Monday, 17 March, from 4:00 am to 9:00 am (French time) due to scheduled maintenance, HMRC has announced.
While other IT systems will remain operational, the maintenance will prevent the automatic routing of lorries crossing the border into France. As a result, all non-empty lorries will be directed to “orange” parking areas for manual customs checks, which may cause delays. Empty lorries will not be affected.
Despite the temporary disruption, traders can still submit transit and pre-lodged declarations as normal. HMRC has stated that staff will be fully mobilised to ensure smooth border operations, and given the typically low traffic levels at that time, no major delays are expected.
