Heavy snow warning for Spain: many roads closed to lorries

The Spanish Road Traffic Directorate (DGT) has issued a warning about heavy snowfall in several regions of the country. Weather alerts and traffic bans for heavy goods vehicles are already in place on many road sections.

This morning, the DGT warned of heavy snowfall expected in several Spanish provinces over the coming hours. Drivers have been urged to exercise extra caution and check road conditions before setting off.

According to the Spanish National Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the heaviest snowfall is expected from midnight and throughout tomorrow in the provinces of León, Asturias, Navarre, Huesca, and Lleida. Other areas under a yellow warning include Lugo, Cantabria, La Rioja, Granada, Soria, Zamora, Palencia, Segovia, Guadalajara, and the Somosierra area of Madrid.

According to the latest road information, weather alerts are in force on nearly 100 road sections, classified as black, red, yellow, or green.

As a reminder, black, red, and yellow alerts indicate a ban on heavy goods vehicles. On roads marked with a green alert, heavy goods vehicles are permitted but must remain in the right lane.
