„Stauland” revives for the weekend: expect congestion in Germany from Wednesday afternoon

The German Automotive Club ADAC warns drivers of increased traffic in Germany during the weekend. 21 May, Ascension Day is a public holiday in Germany, therefore it is likely that more people will be on the roads.

The automotive club announced on Monday that the Corona crisis would limit traffic, but motorways in city areas such as Hamburg are at risk of congestion.

Road users should expect heavier traffic in the Northern region, especially on the A 1 and A 7 motorways and on roads leading to the coast from Wednesday afternoon, and due to the return wave, on Sunday, too.

Friday 22 May is also a public holiday in Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Hamburg has one until Sunday.

The relaxation of driving bans for trucks still applies on Sundays and public holidays.
