Heavy rain, thunderstorms and mudslides are causing disruption, particularly in the Styria region. The A9 motorway has been damaged between Deutschfeistritz and Sankt Michael and will be closed in both directions until the end of the week, according to the Austrian Automobile Club (ÖAMTC).

As a result, traffic will be diverted to the Semmering (S6) and Brucker (S35) expressways.

Other difficulties in Styria include the closed St. Georgener Straße (B114a) near Sauerbrunn and LB15 near Mannersdorf in the Leitah mountains. Also the Burgendland road (B50) is not passable between Markt Allhau and St. Johann due to the risk of flooding.

There are also problems on roads in Tirol – Tiroler Straße (B171) has been closed due to a landslide near Schönwies.
