The official statistics from Trafikanalys show that Swedish lorries covered 813 million kilometres in the second quarter of this year, down from the 907 million that was recorded in Q2 2022.

When it comes to tonnage, the Q2 2023 numbers faired better.

“The total number of transports and cargo loaded were on par with the second quarter of 2022, while estimates for the second quarter of 2023 were 10.6 million transports and 114 million tons of cargo,” writes Trafikanalys.

Interestingly, the report from Trafikanalys also states that Swedish-registered trucks were responsible for 95% of road transport kilometres in Sweden in Q2 2023.

The statistics relate to Swedish-registered lorries with a maximum load weight of 3.5 tonnes or more. The data is collected via an EU-regulated questionnaire survey that’s aimed at approximately 12,000 Swedish-registered heavy trucks each year.
